Our Pearls

What is Freshwater Pearl?

Freshwater Pearl comes from freshwater mussel. They are cultured in freshwater and actually created by an oyster. However, a special procedure is used to encourage the formation of the pearl. Usually, a tiny bead is inserted into the shell. It is returned to the water where it will begin to coat the beed with the pearly substance. The oysters are then harvested for their pearls. Now, Freshwater Pearls are produced in Japan and the United States on a limited scale, but are now almost exclusive to China.
